The N.A.S.A. (North America South America) album project is one huge collaborative effort featuring a whole load of my favourite musicians. Karen O on a track with Ol’ Dirty Bastard & Fatlip; David Byrne, Chuck D, Ras Congo, Seu Jorge & Z-Trip on another. It’s all been put together by Squeak E Clean, a pretty well known DJ & producer as well as Spike Jonze brother and Dj Zegon a Brazillian Dj & producer. It was a personal project pulled together over the last 4 or 5 years in between other projects which is why the collaborators are some what of a dream team. It really is an incredible album (I may have downloaded a leak but I’m definitely buying it).
The artwork features 5 interchangable front covers designed indivually by Shepard Fairey, The Date Farmers, Marcel Dzama, Sage Vaughn and Mark Gonzales.

Marcel Dzama’s artwork shows some pretty interesting paintings.

Mark Gonzales’ artwork shows a pretty bizarre aquatic environment

Sage Vaughan’s artwork shows a discoball, two sleeping astronauts, a KKK member and some kick ass rockets.

The Date Farmer’s artwork use mexican street murials and beer logos.
The album is out February 16th here in the UK. You can pre-order it from Amazon. I only hope the 12inch album is as cool as the CD.
